Charts

Chart prices, volume, indicators, and drawings across intraday and historical timeframes.

The chart workspace includes the symbol, timeframe, price series, volume, indicators, and drawing controls.

Choose the symbol, timeframe, and scale

The chart toolbar controls the symbol, bar size, chart style, date, indicators, display settings, and drawings. Available styles are Candle, Hollow Candle, Heikin Ashi, OHLC, Line, Mountain, Skyline, Crayon, and Lightsaber.

Bar sizes include 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, and 30 minutes; 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 12 hours; and 1 day, week, month, quarter, and year. Option-contract charts use daily bars with free access and also offer intraday bars with Option Flow. Drag to pan, use the wheel or pinch gesture to zoom, or use the axis controls and date picker.

Click the OHLC legend to configure the main price series. Bull, Bear, Line, and Volume colors are always available. Volume can be shown or hidden, and its bars can either follow Bull and Bear direction or use the single Volume color.

The toolbar controls the symbol, timeframe, chart style, indicators, date, display settings, and drawings.
Click the price legend to change series colors and choose directional or single-color volume bars.
Change the symbol, timeframe, chart style, display settings, drawings, indicators, and visible range. This is a silent screen recording; no audio is present.
  • X-axis and Y-axis grid lines can be toggled independently; Label density controls how tightly Y-axis labels are spaced.
  • Split, earnings, and dividend markers and the last-price line can be toggled independently.
  • Equity intraday charts can include or exclude extended-hours bars and shade those bars separately.
  • Logarithmic scale supports decade, linear, or Every N% label steps; Percent scale is mutually exclusive with log scale.
  • Scale to indicators expands the price axis to include visible overlay values.

Save charts and layouts

Save as Symbol to store the current instrument and exchange with its timeframe, style, display settings, indicators, viewport, and drawings. Save as Layout to store the same chart configuration without binding it to a symbol.

Saved charts can be searched, sorted, previewed, loaded, renamed, cloned, overwritten, or deleted. Loading a Symbol chart opens its saved instrument. Loading a Layout applies it to the currently open symbol.

Symbol saves include the instrument. Layout saves can be applied to any chart.

Chart styles

Changing the chart style changes how the same price data is drawn. It does not change the underlying bars.

Candle, Hollow Candle, and OHLC display open, high, low, and close. Heikin Ashi draws derived bars. Line, Mountain, and Skyline emphasize the price path. Crayon and Lightsaber are alternate bar styles.

Candle shows conventional filled and falling bodies with full high-low wicks.
Hollow Candle uses fill and color to show open-to-close and close-to-close direction.
Heikin Ashi uses derived open, high, low, and close values to smooth the series.
OHLC displays each bar as open and close ticks across the full high-low range.
Line reduces each bar to the selected price path for a clean directional view.
Mountain fills the area below the price line.
Skyline draws the series as stepped vertical bars.
Crayon uses textured directional bodies while retaining each bar's high-low range.
Lightsaber uses narrow glowing directional bars across the high-low range.

Add indicators

Indicators cover trend, momentum, volatility, volume, and additional market data. Add only the studies you need so the price series remains readable.

Price-scale indicators such as moving averages and Bollinger Bands appear over price. Oscillators and market-data charts use lower panes. Use Add to search for an indicator. Use Edit to configure, reorder, or remove active indicators. Lower panes can be resized.

Each indicator exposes its supported settings, such as period, color, price source, timeframe, or comparison symbol.
SMA, EMA, and Bollinger Bands are drawn on the main price pane.
Ichimoku Cloud and Parabolic SAR are drawn over the price series.
Visible Range Volume Profile shows volume by price, the value area, and the point of control for the visible range.
Dark Pool Prints and Dark Pool Levels place off-exchange data on the price chart.
  • Moving averages and bands show trend and range.
  • RSI, MACD, and ADX show momentum and trend strength.
  • Volume indicators show trading activity alongside price.
  • Dark Pool Levels, Dark Pool Prints, Short Volume by Venue, Exchange Volume, Reddit Mentions, Reddit Sentiment, Borrow Fee, Short Interest, and Fails-to-Deliver use their respective datasets.
  • Layer controls change the drawing order when several overlays are active.

Configure indicators

Click an indicator legend to edit that indicator. Change its supported parameters, reorder active indicators, resize lower panes, or remove it.

An indicator can use a different timeframe or symbol when those source controls are available. A different source symbol appears first in the pane legend.

Indicators that draw their own price series retain their style controls. Borrow Fee includes Bull, Bear, Line, and Volume colors, volume visibility, and directional or single-color volume bars.

RSI, MACD, and ADX use separate panes below the price chart.
Short Volume and Borrow Fee use separate panes below the price chart.
Borrow Fee settings include its series style, colors, and volume display. Intraday charts use intraday observations.
Set an alternate source symbol when an indicator should use a different instrument from the main chart.
  • Source settings define whether a study uses close, open, high, low, or another price input.
  • Use different colors for indicators with similar shapes or overlapping ranges.
  • Overlay-versus-pane placement follows the indicator's units and cannot be freely reassigned.
  • Alternate symbols and timeframes let supported indicators use data different from the main chart.
  • Longer indicator periods require more source bars before they produce values.

Add and edit drawings

Drawing tools include trendlines, rays, horizontal and vertical lines, rectangles, Fibonacci retracements, text, and measurements.

Use Select to edit one drawing. Use Select several and drag a marquee to select a group. Ctrl-click on Windows and Linux, or Command-click on macOS, removes one drawing from the selection. A selected group can be moved, pinned or released, cloned, or deleted.

Hold Shift while placing to bypass OHLC snapping, and use the settings panel to change supported color, stroke, fill, or label properties. Undo and Redo cover drawing changes in the current chart session. Delete removes the selection; clearing every drawing requires confirmation.

Drawings stay attached to their time and price coordinates while the chart pans, zooms, or loads older bars. Drawings outside the visible range are not deleted.

The drawing toolbar includes selection, placement, deletion, and sharing controls.
Fibonacci retracements and measurements stay attached to chart price and time coordinates.
Rectangles, horizontal lines, vertical lines, and text can be combined on one chart.
Drag a marquee to select drawings together, then move, pin, clone, or delete the group.
  • Trendlines and rays extend from selected price and time coordinates.
  • Horizontal and vertical lines mark a price or time.
  • Rectangles mark a price and time range.
  • Text adds a label at a chart coordinate.
  • Selection and settings controls let you adjust color, stroke, fill, and label properties after a drawing is created.
  • Previous and Next cycle through drawings when one is difficult to select directly.
  • Hide drawings removes them from view without deleting their saved state.

Create alerts from a chart

Use the bell beside Save to create a Price & Volume, Price Levels, or Chart Indicator alert for the current symbol. The menu shows only the alert types supported by that instrument. Create alert in an indicator's settings opens the editor with that indicator selected.

Price & Volume watches absolute values or changes over a selected window. Price Levels watches fixed or recurring levels. Chart Indicator compares price, a fixed value, or an indicator output on finalized bars. Choose crosses above, crosses below, or crosses either direction. The editor starts with the current symbol, interval, session, and indicator settings.

Compare a price or indicator output with a value or another indicator, then choose the crossing direction.

Share a chart

The share control copies a Fixed or Latest link. Fixed preserves the current visible time range. Latest opens at the newest bars. Turn on Include drawings when the link should include chart drawings.

A shared link preserves the symbol, exchange where applicable, bar size, chart style, display settings, indicators, and selected time anchor. Drawings are included only when Include drawings is selected.

Shared chart links preserve comparison indicators such as MSFT over NVDA.
Shared chart links preserve indicators that use a different timeframe from the main chart.
