[The latest BLS data estimates that about 5,674,000 of the people classified as "not in the labor force" currently want a job](https://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t01.htm). This represents about 5.6% of the estimated 102,088,000 people who were "not in the labor force" in April 2025.
Counting all of those people as "unemployed" would raise the headline unemployment rate for April 2025 from 4.2% to 7.3%:

Including the people who are not in the labor force but want a job would also raise LISEP's so-called "True Rate of Unemployment" by a similar 3.1 percentage points, since the U-3 and "TRU" rates both only consider people in the labor force.
