I hear what you're saying, and what I'm saying is that what you're describing - basically a bucket strategy - has no mathematical advantage if you continue to rebalance your portfolio in retirement. If stocks tank and your bonds don't, your AA becomes *too conservative* and therefore you're going to be selling bonds no matter what you do. If you sell those bonds and don't touch the stocks, that works. If you rebalance - which is *buying stocks, not selling them -* and then sell the rebalanced portfolio, it's the exact same freaking thing. The bucket strategy is a mirage that collapses when you insist on rebalancing.
When a market crashes, that's exactly the time you **should** be rebalancing. Letting your AA drift to an ultra conservative level is stupid if your IPS has you at a more aggressive AA. That's why an IPS is so important, to remind you of what's important during the most stressful situations.
This is just math. It's not deep and it's not difficult. A google search of "does a bucket strategy provide any mathematical advantage?" will bring up legit articles (like at Kitces and Schwab) that explicitly talk about the psychology and the mathematical inferiority of what you're describing.
If - and this is an important if - a fund's AA matches your IPS, the automatic rebalancing feature of this fund will be a benefit, not a curse. I have $3M in a 60/40 AA and half of it is in a Vanguard LifeStrategy fund and the other is in the AOR ETF (IRA and taxable). If markets tank, these funds will scoop up stocks at bargain prices automatically, and sell my appreciated assets automatically. Sweet.

I heard it was low power usage, so 2 AA batteries should have worked.

LME aluminum jumped to a four-year high of $3,787.50 in early June, then fell back to around $3,170 even though disruptions at Gulf smelters removed more than 2 million tonnes of annualized production.
That price reversal initially made the supply shortage look overdone. But the physical market is saying something else: Europe’s duty-unpaid premium has risen 65% since the conflict began, while the Japanese premium has more than doubled.
China and Indonesia are filling part of the gap. Chinese exports of semi-finished aluminum products increased 10% YoY in the first five months of 2026, with May shipments reaching their highest level since November 2024. Chinese smelters are also reportedly operating near 99% utilization.
That last figure is why I’m still watching China Hongqiao ($1378.HK) alongside Chalco ($2600.HK) and Alcoa ($AA). Hongqiao has already guided for roughly 39% H1 net-profit growth, driven by higher aluminum-alloy selling prices. If China is becoming the balancing force for disrupted global supply while its smelters are almost fully utilized, large existing producers may remain strategically important even without another spike in the LME price.
Are aluminum equities now a better signal of physical tightness than the headline futures price?

Brother, I spent 15 years drinking no less than a fifth a day. If you think I'm judging you, you're wrong. I ain't no AA freak either. Just told you to keep an eye on it. And your wife being concerned about it should tell you something, bitch. 🥂

Most common cause of death is cardiac but the primary endpoint is a nervous system based one so the CNS effect becomes quite important.
I sold my LRMR position after the recent investor call, don't like the vibe I'm getting from management. If it drops further prior to FDA decision on AA I might go back in.

Still down 90+%.
If it were to go any higher, AA would probably dilute again.

There's no point in having more than one total-market index, whether OE or ETF.
You have to figure out what asset-allocation you are comfortable with then, ideally, put the index in the taxable account. If it's not enough to bring your stock holdings to where you want them, then you can also hold the same index (or any one of them) in the tax-deferred account to get your AA correct.
Do you need a taxable account for some reason like you can max out deferred accounts and still have money left you can invest?

Probably powered by 2 AA batteries since they spent the rest of the budget on chips.
