I use several different ETFs that are dividend focused, and some individual stocks that pay dividends. A relatively new innovation is ETFs that collect and distribute dividends from stocks they hold but also trade options on those stocks to increase the cash distributed to shareholders of the funds. Examples of those ETFs that I own are QQQI, SPYI, IDVO, and JEPQ.
I also own dividend-focused ETFs like VYMI that don’t trade options and just own lots of dividend paying stocks and distribute the dividends they collect.
There are stocks that I own primarily for the dividends they pay like CGBD, BXSL, MPLX, OMF, GLP, VZ, and others. Oddly enough, the stock that is my largest position and that I bought for growth - NVDA - massively increased its dividend from $0.01 per share per quarter to $0.25 per share last quarter. If that continues for the rest of the year I’ll collect over $900 in dividends in 2026 from NVDA, a stock I own for growth.
