🤔 I wonder if I can import some motorcycles for cheap from SE Asia.

Not like it was 20 or 50 years ago. More alternatives today and more developing country consumption. I think the developing country issue is really important for elasticity, as they simply get priced out (a lot of SE Asia makes equivalent of $1 USD/hr).
In the 70s energy crisis, there was a bidding war amongst consumers across developing countries primarily. They had money to spend.
Today, the demand that came from developing countries just gets tsunamied by the price increases, and disappears.
The masses in those countries will react to price changes in ways unfathomable to Western consumers. They have no choice.

She logged into her Fidelity account and tried to set me up as an authorized user. However she could not select "full authority" as the account was ineligible for that level of access. She tried selecting "limited authority" but after filling out my information, she gets an error message saying "You cannot add an authorized agent because you have no eligible accounts available." Does this mean that only she can invest the money in the SE 401k and I cannot help? Or is there a way around this? We arent seeing anything about israel saying their goal is regime change in Iran. We arent seeing anything about all the issues in SE asia an E asia with fuel shortages and all that.
Seems shady as fuck, but what do I know, im a bear whos in all SGOV watching everyone make crazy returns buying overvalued stocks heading into an energy crisis.

I'll give a different perspective. I'm NOT a SE (but IT adjacent), but I'm fascinated with technology (esp. with the advent of AI) + finance and combining the two to potentially make some money. I fully realize that I'm not going to crack the code that will make me billions/millions (heck even thousands) through automated trading, but it's actually fun to build, test, and see things work under your own ideas/hands.
Maybe think of it as more of a hobby instead of letting it consuming your life? You've correctly recognized the more important things in your life, so you aren't too far gone.
