Brazil taxes the dividends. Which is no big deal because you get the Foreign Tax Credit.
Would I rather own an American Bank(FIBK) paying me a 5% dividend or a Brazilian Bank(ITUB) paying me a 5% dividend?
Brazil President Lula de Silva is not exactly friendly to capitalism. President Lula de Silva has piles of evidence that he is corrupt.
Brazil is part of BRICS whose main goal is to take down USA economic clout.
Would I rather own VZ or VIV?
I will take FIBK and VZ over ITUB and VIV.

Hey guys,
I am surprised I did not see these mentioned much - These are Brazilian bank tickers -- VIV ITUB and BBD. Monthly payers, yield for example.of ITUB is 6% or so, 37% Price appreciation YTD and in a minor dip at this moment.
Is there severe tax implications here? Some quick googlong did not reveal much. Why is this not more popular with income investors?
