Oh that’s interesting. Thank you for sharing! I wonder how much HCIs homegrown software (exzeo) helps them. They spun it off but it looks like it’s still owned in large part by HCI and doesn’t have much other revenue. Some insider buying happening on exzeo though. I’ve kept my HCI position small because of the hurricane risk.

Hi Joe, I enjoy your write-ups as always. Based on your substack posting, I reviewed the HCI most recent 10K and 10Q. The numbers are mouth watering. I did additional research and found a 1 July 2026 report from the Florida OIR on the property casualty business here: [https://floir.gov/docs-sf/default-source/property-and-casualty/stability-unit-reports/july-2026-isu-report.pdf](https://floir.gov/docs-sf/default-source/property-and-casualty/stability-unit-reports/july-2026-isu-report.pdf)
I infer from this report that the Florida property and casualty insurance market is going to become a lot softer. Since the tort reforms of a few years ago, many other companies are coming into the business.
