Basically every plane you fly is going to have little bugs like that. The plane I fly has numerous little quirks where if you are in X situation and do Y then it'll do something funny. The companies release internal procedures or fixes to cover these types of known scenarios. This one is no different.
Heck, theres like a dozen of these little things on the plane I fly alone. Let alone all the other planes. The only reason you're hearing about it is because some journalist thought it'd get clicks because it's a 737 MAX, and they were right. The they released an article like this every time a software bug was found in a plane's FMS worldwide it'd be all they ever report on.
