So I started as a “Home health Aide” at an assisted living facility, doesnt require any licenses and is a straight up foot in the door entry job. It is a shitty job though, and pay is shit. But it gives you experience.
From there, I took my CNA test (paid for by my job - and was able to skip the class because I had home health aid experience), became a Certified Nursing Assistant.
From there, I finished my RN degree and got my RN license, and became a RN at the same place. I worked 2 years there and then finally switched to a level one trauma hospital.
And I’m so thankful for my home health aide and CNA experience. You can tell the difference in RNs who never became a HHA or CNA.
