I’m a big fan of B since I retired 18 months ago, and I’ll occasionally take a chance at a few that have fallen out of favor like (C) specified. Own PFE OMF VZ and UPS for the steady payers and CPB for the gambling it’ll get better while it yields 7%

You need to skate to where the puck will be, not where it is. Calls on CPB (Campbells Soup Company), cans of soup will be the new coin of the realm. Actually holding the stock itself isn't a bad idea, you get paid a 6.7% dividend while you wait on the apocalypse.

Learn some basic technical analysis. Understand a trend line. Is it going up, flat (no trend), or going down? . Ask yourself, “If the trend is down, why would I buy?” Get some basic books on this or a subscription. It’s worth the effort. How bout that CPB? (Campbell soup?). Too boring? MSFT?

BRSL, SIDU (I try to pick up when it’s below $2.50), and CPB (strong dividend)

I’ve been investing for over 35 years now, and over that time I’ve learned it’s best not to chase the crazy high yielders as they lose a LOT of value if they falter and cut that great dividend anyway. I’m not against , however, taking a bit of a gamble on industries out of favor but with steady yield like telecom, package delivery or pharmaceutical. As a result I’ve recently taken decent sized positions in VZ, UPS, PFE and CPB. All yield 6.5-7.5% and are qualified, so a big plus. I’m retired so these at like my better paying bonds.
Big companies with low payouts don’t interest me as much, I’d rather buy a faster growing industry for that part of my portfolio.
