I’m not saying it won’t recover at all, it will probably grind upward over time. Most stocks do. Though I think the future for them is less rosy than everyone paints it to be.
But this sub acting like it’ll be at $600 again by EOY because it used to be there so why not again is just silly.
4 years ago AMZN was trading like 8% away from where it trades today. It’s not done jack shit in 4 years while META doubled, NVDA did like 5x, NFLX 2x, etc. so I don’t understand why WSB think UNH is a better place to park money than something any other stock that actually has positive sentiment and growing demand.

I had AMZN at 200 and NVDA at 120 both expiring today. Was able to roll AMZN to 202.5 and NVDA to 121, both expiring next week. I can probably keep my AMZN shares if I really want to but not sure how long I can keep my NVDA although I only sold CC's on half of my total position. Both of those are now long term cap gains too, so if my shares get called away then I'll take my maximum profit and fuck right off. I've got a remodel project coming up pretty soon too so I'll need the money anyway.

Hello, and thank you! This wasn’t easy so let me try to answer your questions. When I lost the 250k, I was so depressed and said, never again. I was buying 0dte options and my last 50k went in an hour. I went on you tube and found csp, cc, and leaps. I took my last 30k from my savings and started SELLING options except for buying leaps which I sold weekly cc on. I only bought leaps that were less than 30 on the RSI and at the bottom of the Bollinger Band. Then I would do a Poor Mans CC on them. My only tickers I sold 30 day CSP on would be NVDA, TSLA, PLTR, and AMZN. All profit would go to buy NVDA and AMZN shares. As soon as I had 100 shares, I would sell weekly CC on them. I did use margin and it took me 3 years to recoup but I did it. I would shoot for.20- .25 delta except recently due to volatility, so now I shoot for .15 delta and take less premium. I hope this helps you. I recently bought 12 UNH leaps when it dipped to 260 and the weekly premium can be 2000-3000 weekly for those. I hope this helps.

To keep things interesting, we want to see big gains and big losses!
So we've set the following thresholds for Gain, Loss, and YOLO flaired posts:
* YOLO posts must be a minimum of $10,000 of options or $25,000 of shares and recently opened.
* Gain / Loss posts must show realized gains or losses of more than $2,500 for options or $5,000 for shares.
We want to see the actual trade. What you got in at, what you sold at. Then tell us why you did it. Give us the story of why you're a fucking genius (or idiot).
This is what a great post looks like:
[$17.2K Gain on AMZN](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/wb5m4o/not_too_shabby_172k_gain_amzn/) - OP described his gain in the title, has a clear screenshot showing both the entry and exit, meaning his gains were locked in, and they explained their reasoning in the comments and what they learned. All around a great post!
Here are examples of what could get your post removed:
* [$300,000 SDC Loss. Still not selling](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/wpm9am/over_300000_unrealized_loss_sdc_not_selling/) - Even though this is a tremendous loss and something worth posting about, **the position hasn't been closed yet**.
Here are examples of amazing posts which could have been even better:
* [$75,000 DDOG Loss.](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/unsrey/loss_porn_ddog_call/) - This is a great post and one that won't get removed. However, the OP could have talked about *why* they entered the position in the first place, what their target price was, and what went wrong. OP didn't stick around in the comments to answer any questions.
* [$1.1MM Loss, No details](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/lxm6wt/hold_me_1100000_loss/) - OP simply posted a screenshot of their overall portfolio balance. It's definitely a big loss, but it's not that interesting without OP talking about what trades they were in and why. OP didn't answer most questions in the comments which left many readers speculating on what happened.

Dude, don't listen to him. Last time walmart stock was $6 in the 90s. He's referring to somthing called "yield on cost". It's a made up metric to help dividend investors feel better. Admittedly, he picked a good stock and got lucky on a massive walmart runup, but that's like betting on winning the lotto. I bought NVDA 10 years ago in my 20s, which destroys any dividend play. And that's just one example.
Had he purchased any FAANG he'd likely be a multi-millionaire. Now he has $106 THOUSAND... Had he chosen AMZN it would be $6.6 MILLION.
He says "doesn't hurt when your stock sees 20x gains". But a better sentence would be "this would've significantly underperformed the S&P and NASDAQ had I not chosen walmart, even with dividends reinvested."
Honestly just shit advice for a younger investor. But congrats to him on a good pick.

Not sure I totally agree, blue chip companies with competitive advantage can compound for a long time which can result in massive gains over time.
Of course it depends on your entry multiple and how sustainable the competitive advantage turns out over time. If you overpay the returns could be lower.
Tech companies like you listed also have a stronger moat/competitive advantage than those of the past blue-chip companies, for example much harder to change from AWS or Windows then changing a retailer.
I would also argue that the companies you listed were already mature blue-chip companies 10 years ago and yet they had a pretty massive gain (around 6x - 9x, or \~20% to 26% CAGR)
Small companies (especially unprofitable ones) can result in large return in a shorter time when it works out, but there is a much larger risk of losing capital as they didn't have time to build up their moat and larger competitors could more easily disrupt them (or in case of unprofitable companies they could just run out of money).
For every success story there are many other failures we often don't talk about (survivorship bias), for every AMZN there were many hundreds of other small-cap internet companies that failed (during dot com crash).

Just do what makes you feel comfortable. There is no wrong decision as long as you save for retirement, if that is your goal.
Could your decisions be 20-20 hindsighted, oh heck yes.
I wish I would have bought AMZN back in 1999 when AMZN was posting hefty losses each year, and they were mostly just selling books.
I wish I would have bought BRK in 1991 when it was around $3000 a share and I was wondering who the heck could buy a $3000 a share stock. I could have bought one share and paid a $50 commission or so to buy it because it was an odd lot.
I started a 401k and started my first DRP the same year.
I added more DRP plans as the years went along and kept adding to my 401k.
I am pretty sure my 401k would have been worth a WHOLE lot more if I invested that money into my 401k instead of dividend stocks. I did pick three growth stocks paying dividends, and those growth stocks turned into companies that are having problems 30 years later. I picked the wrong growth stocks that paid a dividend. Two still pay a dividend, one no longer does.
My boring dividend stocks, utilities mostly, are averaging 7% dividend growth per year so in the next 20 years those dividends will be 4 times what they are today. I will be ancient then.
The question is WHY did I do that?
At the time, my 401k money was to NEVER be touched, EVER. I was using the DRPs as accounts that I could tap if I had to. We also owned our emergency fund, I was just investing other money into the DRPs. Our family never had an emergency where I would have needed to cash out the DRPs.
The DRPs and 401k grew for the next 34 years. If I add up all the DRPs to a total, they do not equal the 401ks total.
Now, we earn more in dividends than I do in Social Security each year. But I could have probably taken distributions from what would have been my quite hefty 401k plan.

Getting into $BOTZ is a better choice than selecting individual stocks. If you must, all hyper-scalers and leading semi-conductors will lead the robotics and AI revolution with their software, cloud and AI software, so I would say $AMZN $MSFT $NVDA $AVGO. I would also count $TSLA in for their optimus growth.

I will post a separate comment with a link to the detail behind each option sold this week.
After week 21 the average premium per week is $1,131 with an annual projection of $58,810.
All things considered, the portfolio is up $29,578 (+9.54%) on the year and up $95,069 (+38.88% over the last 365 days. This is the overall profit and loss and includes options and all other account activity.
All options sold are backed by cash, shares, or LEAPS. I do not sell on margin, nor do I sell naked options.
All options and profits stay in the account with few exceptions. This is not my full time job, although I wish it was. I still grind on a 9-5.
I contributed $600 this week, a 8 week contribution streak.
The portfolio is comprised of 92 unique tickers, up 1 from last week. These 92 tickers have a value of $306k. I also have 163 open option positions, no change from last week. The options have a total value of $33k. The total of the shares and options is $339k. The next goal on the “Road to” is $400k.
I’m currently utilizing $28,500 in cash secured put collateral, up from $26,050 last week.

2025 & 2026 & 2027 LEAPS
In addition to the CSPs and covered calls, I purchase LEAPS. These act as collateral to sell covered calls against. You may have heard of poor man’s covered calls (PMCC). The LEAPS are up $740 this week and are up $77,030 overall.
See r/ExpiredOptions for a detailed spreadsheet update on all LEAPS positions including P/L for each individual position.
LEAPS note 1: the 2025 LEAPS expired 1/17/25. They were up $36,440 overall with a 233.74% increase. The major drivers were AMZN and CRWD.
LEAPS note 2: After holding for 2 years, I exercised an AMZN $80 strike from 2023 up +$11,395 (+463.21%) and CRWD $95 strike from 2023, up +$21,830 (+663.53%)

2023 up $65,403 (+41.31%)
2024 up $64,610 (+29.71%)
I am over $112k in total options premium, since 2021. I average $28.11 per option sold. I have sold over 4,000 options. I have been able to increase the premiums on an annual basis and I will attempt to keep this upward trend going forward.
Strategy:
The underlying strategy is buy and hold. I also use simple 1-legged options to supplement that strategy. Options have somewhat of a learning curve, but I believe that most people can supplement their investments using simple options with careful risk management.
I sell options on a weekly basis. I prefer cash secured puts and covered calls. Sometimes I’m ahead of the indexes and sometimes I’m behind. My goal is consistency in option premium revenue. I am building an income stream that will continue long into retirement.
Spreadsheets:
Unfortunately, I no longer provide spreadsheets. I received too many follow ups about formatting, pivot tables, compatibility etc.I think tracking is very important, but I post to discuss investing and options, not provide tech support for Excel. I appreciate the interest in my tracking methods, though.
Commissions:
I use Robinhood as a broker and they do not charge commissions. There is a an industry standard regulation fee of $0.03 per contract. Last year I sold just over 1,400 contracts which is just over $40.00 in fees paid in 2024. In 2025, the contract fee is $0.04, which would push the fees up to around $60 based on current projections.
The premiums have increased significantly as my experience has expanded over the last three years.
Make sure to post your wins. I look forward to reading about them!

I'm definitely new but doing really well this year, I've been checking the S&P on my buy days (Wed/Thursday) I see which stocks are down that day, I look at the graphs and I see if the company is super volatile or if it looks healthy (RSG, AMZN. For example) then I'll buy as much as I have in my account, I wait for a decent return, then I sell and reinvest the money elsewhere. As of right now I don't want to continue buying index funds with the amount of volatility in the market, they're basically just stagnant and will be for the foreseeable future. If I can get an 11% return and a month instead of a year I'm happy with that. YMMV

I did not claim that young investors should actively expose themselves to concentration risk. Your words, not mine.
I said there’s nothing wrong with overlap and concentration …. that’s my opinion and has been my experience and it still stands for me.
To be clear they/we are talking about the same type of investments equities … the difference is in the structure of the investment ETF vs individual stocks or a combination of both.
Allow me to give an example to support my argument: I used ChatGPT to analyze a ETF pure versus and ETF and individual stocks combined portfolio over the previous 10yrs.
If I had invested $1,000 in the Invesco QQQ ETF (QQQ) 10 years ago, my investment would have grown to approximately $5,390, reflecting a total return of 439% over the decade.
Alternatively, if I had allocated $250 each to QQQ, Apple (AAPL), Alphabet (GOOGL), and Amazon (AMZN), my investments would have appreciated as follows:
• QQQ: $250 × (1 + 4.39) = $1,097.50
• AAPL: $250 × (1 + 6.25) = $1,812.50
• GOOGL: $250 × (1 + 5.06) = $1,765.00
• AMZN: $250 × (1 + 8.41) = $2,352.50
Summing these amounts, my diversified technology concentrated investment would now be worth approximately $7,027.50.
Comparing the two strategies:
• All-in QQQ: $5,390
• combination ETF and individual stocks Portfolio: $7,027.50
The ETF and individual stocks approach outperformed the sole investment in QQQ by about 30% over the 10-year period.
Key Takeaway: While QQQ offers diversified exposure to the tech sector, selectively investing in high-performing individual stocks like AAPL, GOOGL, and AMZN in addition to ETF can potentially yield higher returns.
However, it’s essential to consider the increased risk and volatility associated with individual stock investments compared to diversified ETFs.
Lastly, if I’m guilty of anything, it is assuming rational actors making decisions with a reasonable sense of the concept of risk vs reward or cost/benefit analysis.
I’ve entertained the back-and-forth long enough and clearly will not change your opinion and neither will you change mine. If you would like I will give you the last word on this matter.

Thanks for your submission!
---
All that being said, we are here to help. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to post to our community. We have to balance this with making the subreddit interesting for our readers.
If you need some guidance, don't hesitate to [reach out to modmail](https://old.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=/r/wallstreetbets) and we'll give you some pointers!

Most of the ones *who do beat it* is obviously what they meant.
I agree that going all in on AMZN is kinda ballsy, but the people who make really big returns, who beat the 90-something-percent of people who fail vs. the SP500 are not the ones who diversify to the point of killing the possibility.
