Another fund to maybe consider is VXF. This fund is designed specifically to be a perfectly fit for people who already have VOO.
(Compared to VB, VXF also has mid size companies, not just small companies.)

You shouldn’t.
VOO and chill. Something like 2/3rds of the time you are better just putting it all in right away, but if you are nervous, spread it out.
In my tax free account I have individual holdings, but in my taxed one it’s all ETFs with roughly 10% in VO and 10% in VB.

I see, is rebalancing simply an act to keep my ETFs at 33% VOO, 33% VB, 33% VXUS? If so, how often do i need to do it?

Small caps are riskier than large caps.
You can see that total market has had a worse max drawdown, worse average drawdown, a longer drawdown, and more volatility than just the S&P 500 going back to 1992: https://testfol.io/?s=aRgXCLSuwsi
Willing to use simulated data? Total market had a worse max and average drawdown, but better longest drawdown and volatility going back to 1926: https://testfol.io/?s=dVOXqtg0FLY
But here's the 2nd link with just a simulated small cap fund (VB): https://testfol.io/?s=8pvWaIRB88o Highest volatility, worst max drawdown, and worst average drawdown all belong to the small cap.
