I am fairly new to options but I trade basically like you. I am close to retirement so I’m pretty conservative. I trade VT,
VXUS,SCHD,IWM,RSP,QQQ, SPY, SOXL I would hold basically these funds if I wasn’t trading options On them anyway so getting assigned doesn’t bother me. I like 2 week expirations because of the higher yearly total premium I will do monthly if needed. I try for 0.7-1% premium per trade 1-1.5% on monthly. I try to allow the options to automatically close/ expire or assign and place new trades on the following Monday. I do this to basically make it easier and so I’m not trading all the time just a couple hours at most every 2 weeks. When I was trading more volatility funds and individual stocks and trading weekly the returns were higher but it was more work and more volatility in my total returns. With the stable big diversified portfolio i am trading on now I’m have about a 22-24% return

Nah, it's 100%. I bought MU, DRAM and SOXL amd that's the night the Korean market had their record crash followed by multiple crashes a week and the massive sell off yesterday.
That being said, last night their market went up 10% suddenly so hopefully they changed their mind and will stop fucking me.

SOXL is triple leveraged so I mean yeah, it’s got an inherent risk of trending toward zero

The KOSPI staged a massive V-shaped recovery today, bouncing back aggressively from yesterday’s sharp sell-off.
The index reclaimed the 8,000-point milestone, closing up **+5.76%** at **8,088.34** (a gain of 440.25 points). -- Cad hedged SOXL is up from what I heard --- Expecting relief rally on semi's on Monday potentially

No one wants to get caught holding the bag so semis sell offs are more dramatic but people buy back in as soon as things stabalize. SOXL is up 7.66% today on CBOE so it looks like people are already on their way back in

No, its because they rebalance. Once it falls thats your new starting point because leveraged etfs track daily moves not long term moves. If you lose 10% and then gain 10% the next day the rebalancing has made it so that youre actually not flat, you'll be down a few percent. Say you bought soxl and it fell 20%, the underlying etf now has to push SOXL up 25% for you to break even.

Agreed, my DRAM allocation is fortunately only 2% but I've seen it act with far too much volatility in the time I've had it and I'm planning on reallocating all to AIS the next time DRAM is high.
The gains can be really good if you time it right but we're not talking about SOXL levels and IMHO it's probably not worth the risk or hassle.

SOXL is like a swing horse, with $180 pull back in 2 days from $265 I see a buying opportunity in this current market and price back to $245 next week is an easy target

You bought SOXL at 295? A stock that was under $10 last year. Did you think it would go up forever.
Word of advice, get off the internet before you become homeless.

Learning how to short sell is an extremely valuable skill to master and will put you in a great position where you can trade any market condition and pull profits. You'll never get hurt when you can trade the pile driving markets as well as the moonshot days. You will no longer be a one-dimensional trader. Take today for example in SOXL, I had a 35 and a 17 point short.
In my experience shorting is not more risky than going long, but it can multiply winning trades faster than long trading can. Remain objective and get into strong intraday trends to the downside, practice the same smart trading rules- cut losing trades quickly, never average up, add to your winning trades when you can, watch for key S&R levels, take profits when the charts say to and not a wishful thinking TP, and you'll see your account grow quickly. -Day trader since 2005
