i’ve been profitable for months buying and selling options, usually weeklies but also a lot of 0dte. I primarily scalp.
But when i say profitable i mean low amounts per trade like $20-50. And I aim for $50-100 per day though several days have passed that. My monthly target is $6-800. This is to cover some bills. I use 4k to sell a contract for some small income and use the 2k to buy and sell contracts. But for each trade i only risk 50-250 dollars usually. And i cut losses relatively quickly. I don’t let it get to -30% loss on a contract.
My scale pattern would be every 6-10k of account value add another contract until you no longer can fill immediately for a particular ticker (would require a few live tests to gauge the usual bid/ask spread).
I think you should try that. You’re playing on nightmare mode buying index options (possibly one of the hardest things to trade options wise) and risking huge amounts.
My daily bread and butter are AMD, MU, META, occasionally SNDK and TSLA snd SOXL and rarely NVDA. They move much more predictably than SPY or QQQ. and

One of these days I want to open a long running position in QLD. I did TQQQ for like a week, which was educational in kind of a bad way. It moves *fast*.
It needs to be money you can lose and not really recover from. Some guy posted losing 150k in SOXL a few weeks ago. That's what happens when it goes down 12% and you're 24% down and it resets.

Since March you say? Just today I had a 6 hour long in SPCX, a 5 hour short in MSTR and a 4 hour short in INTC. Those are called intraday trends to me. And I played the chop trends in SOXL capturing two 4 point moves. For me there was too many opportunities to trade them all.
Everyday is the same when you keep an open mind.

Should I sell my SOXL position? If so, how much??

Many experienced do not blog as they are bored by newbie questions (they are well established, why do they care for any questions!). Today, I am not ready for an trade, like friday time-off, bloging on reddit. Otherwise, I will be doing preliminary research how best to earn money today !
Okay, here is the hands-on person past 9 years trading, but frankly I may not come out of trading mentality. Lucky to form some rules and working with such rules (like avoid options etc which so many do not like it). I use TQQQ,SOXL mainly and follow them closely, wait for opportunity and bulk trade.
I am a part-time trader for side income, but still working 9-5. I mostly trade on retirement accounts so that I do not need to pay taxes now and at the same time save my future. I earn appx same or little more than my 9-5 job, but not satisfied to quit my job as that is easy money(no risk) than trading returns (high risk)
It took me few years to know the benefit of 3x leverage, liquidity..etc. first year struggle (2017), 2018 to 2020 boom, 2021 slag (only loss year) , 2022-2024 flat no growth, 2025-2006 boom again.
Trading is not easy, it is like full time work, you analyze stocks/etf/market etc and try to make win with all probabilities. Most of your home work will be converted into returns as if it is like earning from work.
My only rule, avoid losses, make enough research and analysis before taking a trade and must win. Otherwise, I screw up my life and future ! I always assume that I am wrong when I enter first buy and have 30% chance to win, what are my ways to make it positive return! If my plan is concrete enough to come positive, I enter, otherwise I stay away from market (better peace of mind).
Few times, here and there, luck plays, but not every time. This year is beyond my imagination, lowest retrun is 75% YTD and in some cases 150%.
