I have actually seen a few HDFC SKY calls play out. Their Ipca Labs call had a bull target of ₹1,780 and they later reported the stock hitting ₹1,788. ACME Solar also reached their ₹325 base target. So I wouldn't dismiss broker research outright

I have used a couple of discount brokers and I am somewhere in the middle when it comes to investing. I understand the basics, I can read financials to some extent, but I am definitely not the guy who can analyse a company's balance sheet in 20 minutes and tell you whether its undervalued.
Most of us compare brokers based on brokerage, AMC, app experience, charts, etc. Zerodha, Groww, Upstox, Angel One, HDFC SKY and others all have their own mix of features.
But recently I have started wondering whether having actual research available inside the broker is useful. For example, HDFC SKY has research calls and reports covering equities, ETFs, MTF, F&O and commodities. They also have things like daily/periodic market reports and stock-specific research.
I would not blindly buy a stock just because a broker says “Buy”. In fact, that sounds like a pretty bad strategy. But if I am already researching a company myself, having another research report to compare against could be useful, especially when I am not experienced enough to spot everything on my own.
The point now is how much importance does one need to give to broker-provided research when choosing a Demat/trading account? How is it that different stock brokers have different recommendations and how are we to measure their success rate? I have seen some of the recos from hdfc sky really do well, same from mofsl.
