Came into some money recently. Had a high-interest credit card to pay off. I believe gold is at or near floor the last month (it's actually up sharply last two days.) Instead of paying off the credit card, I about $15k of SGOL and did a margin loan for about $7k at 5.65% and used that to pay off the card. Making weekly payments on the margin loan and the collateral is appreciating in value -- so far so good. Gold would really have to tank hard to put me in margin call territory.

SGOL in taxable accounts, PHYS in IRAs (Sprott PFIC closed-end funds are a major PITA in taxable accounts)

Look into moving funds inside his 401k into SGOL. Serialized gold allocated to your shares and the gold sits in a Swiss vault so the (US) government cant get it. Relatively low fees involved, way better than the Canadian version (PHYS).
A single tube of 1/2-ounce gold eagles is $90k. That's not hard to store on hand if you've got the right setup and don't talk about shit on reddit.
