Not a dentist, not in the military, but do have one thing to consider: dentistry, in much of the US at this point, is running a production-based business. You’re either independent, part of a group with production goals, or partner with somewhere like PDS who builds a practice around you. Regardless of the model, you’re there to sling fillings and produce revenue. I have no idea what your life and practice is like in military dentistry, but I imagine you have much less of a production quota and don’t have the business side to manage.
Completely up to you as to what you like to do, where you fall on the comp vs flexibility vs stability spectrum, and what gives you joy from practicing, but feels worth mentioning.
