What got me to buy IAU shares was recognizing the geopolitical headwinds that are facing US securities (the possible end of petrodollar recycling because of the stupidity that is the war of aggression against Iran) and the foreign central banks' interest in dumping US treasuries while buying tons and tons of gold. Even the big US banks are expecting higher gold prices because of the central banks. At some point it will top out, but I don't think we're there yet, barring a sudden end to the war that reverts us back to the status quo ante bellum, but I'm not seeing that on the horizon at all.
