Sportsbooks’ growth narrative has been really hurt by prediction markets. Whether GENI has a role to play there may depend on whether prediction markets get tougher regulation. That’s probably not happening until after 2028.

Former GENI holder. Did well on it as a SPAC and sold in the green. Those warrants were issued to the NFL by GENI as part of their contract. I think the NFL paid $.01 per warrant. So its not like they went out and bought them on the open market. FWIW.
Been watching it since the Legend buy, we will see if it works or not and I think the stock price reflects the uncertainty of that. But its got a shot.

Been watching GENI for a while and you make solid points about the data monopoly angle. The NFL having equity stake is pretty telling - they wouldn't put skin in game if they didn't see the long term value.

That prediction market angle is interesting too. If sports betting keeps expanding into more states and internationally, someone has to provide all that underlying data infrastructure. Makes sense it would be the company already doing it for major leagues.

Only thing that makes me hesitant is how beat up the stock got after that Legend acquisition. Market clearly didn't like the dilution at first, but if guidance keeps getting raised then maybe the street was wrong on this one.
