Yes I believe it really all is mindset and trying simplify things to being able to execute consistently and accurately.
I tried to do volume profile but trying to read the market was not for me. I am about 90% systematic and 10% discretionary.
Being systematic allows me to put the ‘blame and cope’ that the market or my strategy was bad so this in my head cleared up the pressure and stress even before getting onto the charts.
Thinking of prop firms expenses made me be able to pass evals in only 2 days instead of not even being able to pass it at all. (I am only on my first 2 evals and handful of payouts.)
Anyway.
I will post my strategy but I did put it to chatgpt so it is more cleaned up, I tend to babble.
I use my own strategy. It’s pretty simple. I only trade the NY open, and my trading session is limited to the first 30 minutes.
The setup is based on the 1-minute chart. I look for a directional candle at the NY open, followed by an opposite candle, then another candle in the same direction as the first.
So the pattern looks like either:
• Up → Down → Up, or
• Down → Up → Down
It doesn’t matter how long it takes for the candles to appear, as long as that structure forms.
After that, I check the 15-minute chart and look left to see if there’s a point of interest (POI). This could be a level where price previously bounced, failed to break, or a candle with large rejection wicks.
If the 15-minute POI aligns with the 1-minute DRD (for example, the POI previously rejected price upward and my DRD signals a long), then I take the trade.
If the 15-minute context is against my DRD, I skip the trade. I just repeat the DRD again, starting from the R then waiting for the other D.
If price isn’t exactly at the POI but the DRD is pointing toward it, I’ll still take the trade and use the POI as my take profit.
If my 30min session is hit before I have any trades, thats it. I also only trade max 3 times, usually only once.
From my own backtests from 2023-2025, it tends to suffer breakeven months on the middle 3-4 months (especially June). But the first and last 4 months of the year it gives me an ok winrate with asymmetric risk.
At the moment, I have only 2 red days outs of the existence of my funded account (2nd one is fully green).
