You should spend some time and read my original thesis, highlighted all of this.
tl;dr - PODD is actually struggling with Type 2 retention. Tandem COULD tap into the Type 2 market but that's not where the bulk of it's user install base is at.
It would be NICE if they did capture some Type 2 market but the bull thesis is still on pharmacy transition onto PayGo.
Type 2 diabetes is around 20x the market for Type 1, but just like other diseases, there are different forms of Type 2, some requiring more intensive insulin pump therapy, and others probably not so much. Capturing even a small fraction of Type 2 market (even just 5% of it), would effectively double their user install base but that's more on the optimistic side.

lol you are so far off… tandem is not a good company and does not have a good algorithm and highly unlikely their pump form factor meets the market needs. PODD is the clear winner and the true patch form factor is what patients want, then tandem mmed and Benz will fight for the rest of the shrinking tubed bump market … but bbnx is likely to make the jump to a real patch first cause their new management team actually understands the market and has a track record of getting things done. Tandem actually has the worst algo out of those 3 bbnx has the easiest lowest effort and mmed has the best results but takes work. Also tandem is poorly run with a bad management team.
I think you made a bad stupid bet and your information from talking to people is demonstrably false… not to mention diabetes companies are just not great investments anymore … why?? Well type 1 is pretty fixed and growing at a low % with population and whole populations are just not affected … what used to drive the market was type 2 … but now with glp-1 the number of type 2 insulin taking patients forecast has been very reduced
Anyway , all yall on this thread are regarded, so I’m sure you will see the above and be like **bullish I am in and will double my position**

Hey folks! Here's the original thesis [https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/1tqaidt/tandem\_diabetes\_tndm\_10x\_play\_or\_getting\_bought/](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/1tqaidt/tandem_diabetes_tndm_10x_play_or_getting_bought/)
Swung $TNDM on earnings, sold, and re-bought 70k shares for $17 a piece yesterday (Bought it early in the day, wish I had waited til end of day instead)

Decided to buy back in after seeing this fellow WSB degenerate throw nearly $900k on this stock [https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/s/eu7tWVyWjZ](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/s/eu7tWVyWjZ)
Will most likely be holding this position for the next few months. I believe PayGo's 2027 projections are going to make or break this stock (which should either be in Q3 or Q4 earnings call)
**Pump Competition**
After speaking with some friends who have extensive knowledge on the broader insulin pump industry and have attended various insulin pump conferences, here is what I had gathered regarding Tandem's direct competitors.
\- $PODD (Insulet) seems like they fumbled their Omnipod 6, not a very good product. Market domination in the past few years made them complacent.
\- $BBNX (Mint) tubeless pump will release before $TNDM's Tubeless Mobi, which is a direct competitor. Mint is much easier to configure and to start using, however Mint's tubeless pump has a much less sophisticated algorithm than Tandem's Mobi (In car analogy, Mint is a self-driving car, while Tandem is an automatic car)
\- $MMED (Minimed) is the scary competitor, since their pump is almost identical to Tandem's pump, and their algorithm isn't much farther behind. The advantage Tandem has on this is that they are around a year early on their FDA schedule.

thanks for reading and godspeed
