The divergence between macro policy and corporate earnings this morning is setting up a really weird backdrop for the 2 PM Fed decision. The bond market is aggressively pricing in a hawkish path, with the 10-year Treasury yield crossing the 5.01% threshold and the 2-year sitting at 4.67%.
Under any normal market regime, the 10-year pushing past 5% would instantly choke high-valuation growth equities. Instead, we are seeing Nasdaq futures defy gravity, clinging to a +0.29% green patch while Dow futures sit dead flat.
The real problem isn't the index divergence; it's the structural warning coming out of earnings. FactSet (FDS) is catching a solid 6% bid on its report, which is helping mask the broader tech malaise. But looking at the industrial economy, J.B. Hunt (JBHT) is getting completely hammered, down over 9% pre-market. A massive logistics miss usually means freight volumes and physical demand are drying up fast.
It also creates a massive contradiction. The Fed is widely expected to push through a 25 bps hike to a 3.75%–4.00% target range (the first increase since 2023) because they see an economy that still needs cooling.
