Most of my investments are in low cost index funds.
But I have a brokerage account that I use for my speculation. And it has grown. At this point it could uses some trimming down but it’s mostly made up of 3 types of investments.
1) Turnaround stories. So BA, utilities I bought after Enron when all the utilities went down. TOO big to fail BAC I picked up when it was $4.00 a share. F I bought a while ago. Last buy on this strategy are HON, WEN & STLA
2) Dividend payouts. T, VZ, My utilities (so double bagger gains on price post Enron & nice dividend yield. Some turnaround stories were dividend plays too.
3) Options plays I like selling naked puts for stocks I like or assume won’t fall enough so it’s worth the other side executing. Most recent case was DIS. But now those shares are in the money. I write some covered calls from time to time. But sometimes that calls away a winer that has room to run. Happened with BAC, so I wrote more puts and rebought at a lower price after wash sale rule no longer applied.
I’m up, but I’ve also had bad trades that reduced my total gain. But like I said this is only a fraction of my portfolio.
