i caught that episode too and the last segment was the part that stuck with me most. eisman's not wrong about GLAS being basically the only game in town for a lot of california growers, even with the regulatory overhang it's hard to see domestic production scaling up fast enough to displace them. the greenhouse economics just work better in that climate.

what i found more interesting was the GLNG play though. the FLNG conversion thesis isn't new but the way he framed the global gas market shifting away from russian supply made it feel less like a commodity bet and more like a infrastructure bottleneck play. still a lot of execution risk with the newbuild conversions but the backlog they've got gives you a decent margin of safety.

i'm not adding either to my portfolio right now but i've been digging through the GLAS filings since i watched it. the cash flow generation is kind of nuts for a company that's been beat up as much as it has.
