Thanks for taking the time to explain. I agree there's something called swing trading.
What I meant here, and I probably wasn't clear enough, is value investing on fundamentals but using the technicals to know when to enter or exit the position.
For example, you think CPRT offers a margin of safety under $45. It drops from a high of $63 and keeps falling. You could buy your position as soon as it hits $45, or you could watch how its trending and wait for (what you think is a) bottom around $38 and then start to pick up shares, creating your position as long as it's under $45. You might get your lots at the same prices but they'll be later in time, offering a higher IRR. A strategy like this might also miss the bottom at $38, but also put less of the money in at $45. The CPRT is example is real btw. I bought most of my position at $45, but wish I waited a little and was picking it up now.
When selling, it's not about price action. You could either believe it's a long term hold and just hold, or if you have a price target (which is fine to have in value investing) you could unload it at the price target -- not when the price action changes.

I’m not sure I believe it, but it you could do $CPRT and talk up the competitive advantages/long term track record and argue why market is overly concerned about threat from driver assist technology/self driving
