Hey everyone,
Dev behind [CatalystAlert.io](https://catalystalert.io) here. I usually post the monthly catalyst rundown, but this time I want to start with something from our outcomes data that genuinely surprised me when I ran the numbers.
# The "binary event" myth
Everyone (me included) talks about FDA decisions like they're lottery tickets. So I pulled every PDUFA decision we've tracked with before/after price data: 622 decisions total, 619 with a measurable move.
Only 7 of those 619 moved more than 20%.
On decisions with a clearly positive outcome, the median move was about +5%. On negative outcomes, about -8%. That's it. The monster moves you remember (SRPT +74%, ITRM +61%, URGN +52% in our data) are real, but they're outliers, and they're concentrated in small caps where the drug IS the company. A PDUFA on a pharma with 8 approved products is mostly a non-event because approval is already priced in.
Takeaway I'd defend: the date matters way less than how much of the company's value is riding on that one decision. Worth keeping in mind next time a "huge PDUFA coming" post shows up here.
Not investment advice, just what our data shows. Happy to be challenged on methodology.
# The fall rundown
Now the usual rundown, pulled from our calendar today. Heads up: most Phase 3 timelines below are month-level estimates from trial registries, not company-confirmed dates. They shift all the time. The PDUFA dates are firmer.
**Late August (estimated windows)**
* AMGN, Dazodalibep Phase 3 in Sjögren's Syndrome. One of the few late-stage shots in a disease with basically no approved disease-modifying options.
* NVS, JDQ443 (KRAS inhibitor) Phase 3 in NSCLC.
* REGN, perioperative NSCLC Phase 3 data expected.
* UCB has a busy stretch: Brivaracetam epilepsy data, Staccato alprazolam for prolonged seizures, and fenfluramine Dravet data expected between late Aug and early Sep.
* GALDY (Galderma), Nemolizumab Phase 3 in prurigo nodularis.
* JAZZ, Dordaviprone (ONC201) Phase 3 in H3 K27M glioma. Rare, aggressive pediatric/young-adult brain tumor with huge unmet need.
* RHHBY (Roche), an obesity program Phase 3 readout expected. Everything obesity gets attention right now.
**September (estimated windows)**
* VRTX, Phase 3 data expected for their type 1 diabetes cell therapy program. If you follow the "functional cure for T1D" story, this is the one.
* ARGX, efgartigimod Phase 3 in multifocal motor neuropathy. argenx keeps stacking indications on Vyvgart.
* SNY (Sanofi), Fitusiran in hemophilia.
* ABBV, MRK, NVS all have additional Phase 3 readouts penciled in this month (breast cancer, endometrial, dry eye among others).
**The PDUFA queue building into Q4**
|Expected|Company|What|
|:-|:-|:-|
|Sep 30|SRRK (Scholar Rock)|FDA decision|
|Oct 1|NUVB (Nuvation Bio)|Prostate cancer program|
|Nov 1|AGIO (Agios)|FDA decision|
|Nov 15|TLX (Telix)|TLX250-CDx imaging agent, ccRCC|
|Nov 30|VRTX (Vertex)|Povetacicept, primary membranous nephropathy|
|Nov 30|SMMT (Summit)|Ivonescimab, metastatic colorectal|
|\~Dec|MRK (Merck)|Zanzalintinib, renal cell (date not confirmed)|
|\~Dec|ALVO (Alvotech)|Vedolizumab biosimilar (date not confirmed)|
The two Nov 30 ones (VRTX povetacicept and SMMT ivonescimab) are the ones we have verified against official sources. SMMT in particular given everything riding on ivonescimab.
# Want the full dossier on a company?
New thing I want to try with this sub. We generate research dossiers per company: upcoming catalysts with a confidence label on each date (confirmed vs estimated vs AI-detected), the pipeline, cash runway and financials, insider and institutional activity, analyst consensus, and an honest summary of the setup.
Drop a ticker in the comments and I'll reply with the dossier for it. Any biotech in our 1,700+ company universe. I'll do as many as I can get through.
Partly this is me stress-testing our own data in public, so if you spot something wrong in a dossier, tell me. That's the most useful feedback I can get.
**Disclaimer:** CatalystAlert.io is in beta. Everything above is informational only, not investment advice. Dates shift, trials get delayed, data can contain errors. Verify against official sources (FDA.gov, ClinicalTrials.gov, SEC filings, company IR) before making any decision. Use at your own risk.
