There are 100 billion XRP. About 60 billion are in circulation and 40 billion are in an escrow account held by Ripple. They release 1billion per month for operating expence and acquisitions. They return the rest to the escrow account. That's why the price never goes up because they keep flooding the market with new ones every month. When they're gone and the adoption takes place that's when it's really going to take off. Allegedly!

People lose funds on exchanges all the time.
Not even just hacks, accounts get frozen, withdrawals delayed, platforms go down right when the market moves… and you’re just stuck watching. You don’t actually control anything there.
Don’t walk, run and get a cold wallet. Tangem is great for XRP

I wouldn’t keep it on Coinbase long-term, especially if you’ve already had issues. It’s fine for buying, but when things get volatile, that’s exactly when platforms can lag or restrict withdrawals. Cold wallets just mean you hold your own keys instead of the exchange. You’d buy on Coinbase, then send your XRP to your own wallet address and keep it there. Get a tangem, it’s a cold wallet so your keys stay offline, but it doesn’t feel complicated at all.

I think a lot of people finally figured out that 99% of crypto is just a scam.  99% of it has zero utility value, or any value for that matter, and is based upon nothing.
There’s a hunger for REAL assets, like gold, silver, etc.  I think crypto like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Hedera, XLM, FET, XRP, etc. are the “safe” crypto, as these actually have a solid real world use.
But as far as all the meme coins and all that bullshit, there’s little future.

It’s definitely an interesting angle, but I think people might be overestimating how immediate the quantum threat really is, while underestimating how long these upgrades take to fully roll out and standardize. It’s a positive that projects like XRP are at least experimenting early, but real adoption will depend on execution and whether these solutions actually get implemented at scale. For now I still treat it as a long-term narrative rather than something that drives short-term price, so positioning should stay balanced. I keep exposure to majors but also allocate a portion to something like CoinDepo where BTC earns through lending and structured strategies, so I’m not relying purely on future narratives playing out

It’s not a dead blockchain, the coins you mention are good, although I’m not convinced about XRP. Their cards are still good, I’ve yet to find better, and I’m in the US. I believe the staking is good, but I agree the tokenomics are not good, the 70B was not good. However, there’s a change coming, let’s see if there’s an attempt to make things better. After that we can all make our thoughts known on the changes, if there are any on the tokenomics
Just some musings from a random internet stranger 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, I know it’s out there but considering that XRPs main purpose of existing completely contradicts how people perceive its value, I think the real reason for the EFTs is to give the big banks aligned with SWIFT an avenue to damage the real contender in the space.
Also, Ripple knows this which is why they came out with their own stable coin to hedge their bet against XRP. If XRP is tanked by speculative trading when in fact it’s declared a “utility” coin, then they have a back up.

Yes, **Ripple** is actively working to help modernize and improve aspects of the **global repo market** (repurchase agreements) in banking through blockchain technology, particularly by bringing **tokenized repos** and related lending solutions onto the **XRP Ledger (XRPL)**.
The global repo market is enormous—handling tens of trillions of dollars annually in short-term, collateralized borrowing/lending (often using high-quality assets like government bonds or money market funds as collateral). Traditional repos can involve settlement delays, high operational friction, limited 24/7 availability, and counterparty risks.
Ripple's efforts focus on **tokenization** to make this market more efficient, faster, and accessible, especially for institutional players. Key developments include:
- In September 2025, Ripple partnered with **DBS Bank** (a major Singapore-based global bank) and **Franklin Templeton** (a huge asset manager) to launch **trading and lending solutions** powered by tokenized money market funds (like Franklin Templeton's sgBENJI tokens on the XRPL) and Ripple's own stablecoin, **Ripple USD (RLUSD)**.
- This explicitly enables **repo transactions**: Institutional investors can use tokenized assets as collateral to borrow cash (via repurchase agreements) directly from DBS or third-party platforms.
- It allows trading between stablecoins like RLUSD and tokenized funds, unlocking liquidity with near-instant settlement (thanks to XRPL's 3-5 second finality and low fees).
- Ripple executives described this as a "game-changer" for onchain repo trades, bringing traditional repo mechanics (short-term secured lending) into blockchain for better efficiency and new liquidity venues.
- Through its acquisition of **Hidden Road** (a prime brokerage firm) in 2025, Ripple integrates RLUSD as collateral in repo and other brokerage products, expanding capacity in fixed income and repo markets.
- Ripple's broader ecosystem (including **Ripple Treasury** via GTreasury acquisition and **Ripple Prime**) supports overnight secured repo markets using RLUSD and tokenized U.S. Treasuries, helping institutions manage liquidity 24/7—even on weekends/holidays when traditional systems are closed.
These initiatives don't aim to replace the entire global repo system overnight (which remains dominated by traditional finance and central banks), but they position Ripple/XRPL as infrastructure for **tokenized, onchain versions** of repos. This bridges traditional banking with blockchain, potentially reducing costs, speeding up settlements, and freeing up trapped liquidity—similar to how Ripple's **On-Demand Liquidity (ODL)** uses XRP for faster cross-border payments.
In short: Yes, Ripple is deliberately helping evolve the global repo space in banking by tokenizing collateral, enabling blockchain-based repo trades, and partnering with major institutions to bring efficiency to this critical (but sometimes clunky) market segment. If you're asking in the context of XRP's utility or investment angle, these moves increase real-world adoption of the XRPL ecosystem. Let me know if you'd like more details on any part!

I think the SWIFT bank partners will invest to drive the price up to “prove” that it is not a utility token and in essence sabotaging XRP utility. This will force other banks to look for a stable coin alternative which will obviously be one backed by SWIFT.
