Let me lead by saying that I'm not looking for comments about how good/bad the prices are. I'm looking to make sense on the "deal".
Went to my LCS looking to trade silver for gold and this is the "deal" that I'm trying to make sense of. If any of you can help me make sense because I truly feel like I'm the one not making sense and I don't know which wire in my brain isn't crossing:
\- They have a gold 1 oz Krugerrand that I want. The price is 5% over spot.
\- They SELL silver Eagles for $6 over spot.

I go in feeling like I'M the one about to offer them a good deal. I'll PAY the 5% over spot and trade them by trading them Eagles at spot.

Guy tells me that he can't trade spot. He can only trade me $5.00 UNDER spot and STILL charge the 5% premium.

I'm afraid I offended him by the way I was looking at him. But I truly wasn't trying to make him feel stupid. I was just sort of... baffled. The wires weren't crossing and making ANY sense of this.

"So if I pay you CASH... the price iiiisss..."
"5% over spot."
"But if I TRADE you something for spot for it that you're selling for $6.00 OVER spot... you're only going to trade $5.00 UNDER spot and STILL charge the 5% premium?"
"Yes... I don't see what doesn't make sense here."

And so I'm trying to explain...

\- If I pay him CASH... he only makes 5% over its value. (Plus whatever amount above/below the current price he paid for it, of course).

\- If I TRADE him 75 Eagles at spot... he's getting something EQUIVELENT to take its place, AND he's going to be asking $6.00 OVER SPOT for each of those Eagles. PLUS the 5% premium on what was traded for!

"Right. But I don't trade equivalent. I'm not in business to break even. Or just make 5% on the trade."
"But... you'll be... selling them for MORE than you're trading me... PLUS the 5%...
"Thank you for coming in. I'm sorry we couldn't do business."

He turned me away, HONESTLY feeling like I was trying to hit him with some big obvious scam.

And if I WAS, I honestly don't know how. I truly feel like I was missing something. Can someone help me make sense of it? Again, I'm not looking for comments about whether his prices were high/low/whatever. I'm looking for people to help me understand why the "deal" wasn't as good of a deal as what I was thinking and why he preferred to make JUST $220 CASH on his coin instead of replacing it with equivalent valued products, receiving $220 ADDITIONAL worth of product (instead of cash). And then MAKING $440 EXTRA on the premiums of the products I traded him.

In my mind, he was willing to make $220 cash on the product and be perfectly happy, but trading and then making $660 INSTEAD on the extra premiums felt like I was trying to scam him? Again, it makes perfect sense to me, but I'm willing to accept that my brain just has a wire crossed somewhere. I just don't know which wire...

Too bad in order to recover the 111 million, including 2k from me for diligently monitoring TONIC price, Cronos proved to the whole world they are not DEFI nor decentralized at all by doing this. They may have been better off letting people continue to think what they had WAS actually DEFI.

No this would alarm people. You would start with some very famous addresses around the MtGox hack. There is this 1Fee address where the priv keys have been lost and there is like 17000 BTC on it. When that moves people won't say "OMG QUANTUM HACK" they would say "SOMEBODY FOUND THE KEY AGAIN!" or "THE KEY WAS NEVER LOST SOMEBODY MADE A COPY"
then you would focus on wallets that got dormand between 2017 and 2020.
Then you would do dormant wallets since 2015. Once you have cashed out as many million of dollars slowly and covertly and you got it all in hard currency that's when you rob the first addresses and let people know you are quantum brute forcing.
