Careful. There's no such thing as "BTCL." Whatever services you found are almost certainly scams built around a fake token.
Lightning isn't a separate coin, it's a payment layer on top of Bitcoin. You don't "swap" BTC for anything to use it, the same sats just move through payment channels instead of on the base chain, which makes transactions instant and near-free. When a channel closes, the balance settles back to the normal Bitcoin blockchain. It's still just BTC the whole time, denominated in sats.
To actually use Lightning, you just need a Lightning-enabled wallet (Phoenix, Muun, Wallet of Satoshi, etc.) and fund it with your regular BTC, no swap, no separate token, no third-party "service" needed. Some wallets do a submarine swap under the hood, but that's on-chain BTC to off-chain BTC, not BTC to some other coin called BTCL.
Please don't send funds to either of those services, the setup you're describing (obscure sites facilitating a swap into a token that doesn't exist) is a textbook pattern for simply losing your BTC with nothing sent back.

So, I saw someone's post earlier about the lightning network and it reignited some dormant interest that I had about in the network and how it works. I started researching how to swap BTC for BTCL and I was able to find two services that can facilitate but, how reputable are they? I can understand that their services come at a cost and I am ok with that. However, I am somewhat leery of these services. How can I trust that they will do the swap as stated without keeping all or too much of the btc that I hand over? If anyone has any suggestions on a reputable, easy to use swap service, I would appreciate it.
