Big fan of BTCI from neos. Sure it will underperform during a bull but BTC ranges so often that I just take the distributions to buy spot and I think I will outperform just holding IBIT this next cycle.

Total returns are equity appreciation + annual dividends. For example, if you own a stock that does not appreciate in value but pays a 10% dividend, then your total annual return for that year is 10%. If the stock appreciates 5% and pays a 5% dividend, your total return is still 10%. It's simple math. The income investor focuses on dividend amounts and number of stocks owned. If share price is going down and I am reinvesting my dividends, I'm purchasing more stock that produces income. (DRIP compounding). Think of it as buying more rental units that pay rent every month. Even if the rent is going down and the value of your property is declining, if you accumulate property at a fast pace, you will still come out ahead. For example, if I bought $500,000 worth of BTCI today and reinvested $1K of the monthly dividend every month, I would accumulate 449,043 shares in 10 years. Due to NAV decay and dividend cuts, the share price will only be $2.56 with a dividend of $0.08 per month. However, when you multiply that by the # of shares the annual dividend is \~ $431,000 and your portfolio value is $1,151,310. Include the dividends earned over 10 years your total return is a compounded annual rate of 17.55%.

I have BTCI in my 401k and that was how I started to dabble with NEOS last year. I think I am easily about 9 to 15 years out from retirement ... but I am not waiting to start dabbling in building an income portfolio. I have been nibbling as things have gotten cheaper - but I don't know where the bottom may be.

I hit 50 a short while ago and I am starting to build an income portfolio in my brokerage for whenever I retire or should I get left without a seat at work.
I'm not sure what you are looking to get out of your post - but I would highly encourage you to take a look at the distributions of BTCI. In particular, they have been affected since NOV/DEC due to the underlying tanking. I think this can show you how variable the income could be on these funds.
While I like NEOS, this is not a normal dividend stock and you should understand what you are potentially getting yourself into. By the way - I am holding my BTCI, I am sure many others jumped ship.

Model out doing this with BTCI and what would have happened after the bitcoin crash. That’s probably about a worst case 50% drawdown for the Nasdaq… so if your model would have continued to work with BTCI’s NAV and distribution reductions then you would feel more confident in trying it with QQQI.
