I am 90% VEQT but I tilt bank and quality Canadian stocks with 10% XDIV. Don’t know where it’ll go from here but it’s had an unbelievable run over the last 5 years.

Unfortunately nobody can really answer this better than what you already know. CAGE doesn't really have a baseline to compare. Even if it did, past performance doesn't guarantee future performance.
Forget about the ~1% difference or trying to justify this with math because there are too many variables.
There is basically schools of thought here:
1. "The biggest companies today (e.g. hyperscalers) will continue to lead the market, so they should be weighted accordingly"... Buy VEQT/XEQT
2. "AI is a bubble, hyperscaling won'tast. I'd rather focus on underpriced assets"... Buy CAGE.

As of right now, I’d choose \*EQT. The devil you know vs the devil you don’t.
I have a strong suspicion that you’re not going to see such a massive difference between VEQT/XEQT and CAGE over that timeframe that you’re going to regret either decision.
Just my two pennies.

Debating on Stantec, and maybe some gold companies....but I'm also thinking of just doing VEQT...

CAGE may outperform VEQT, sometimes, but also sometimes won’t. 

Both 50% in VEQT and 50% in CAGE.

Just looking for opinions / ideas to consider from this community. Just delivered a baby girl a month ago and looking to open a family RESP through wealthsimple. In my own accounts, I'm mostly VEQT but have put some recently in CAGE. Wondering which you may think is preferable over an 18+ year timeline (may have 2-3 kids so family RESP will have lots of time for growth till done). VEQT has a lower MER at 0.17% vs CAGE 0.28-0.32 or so (0.28 is mngmt fee, MER may be a few points higher), which seems not inconsequential to me over the long term unless CAGE is really expected to outperform.
What do you think, what would you do?

Assuming we put about 10k in this year and 2500 + 500 from govt each year after until maxed out, and same set up for each kid that follows.
