You couldn’t pay minor children without incurring kiddie tax before anyways so it was punitive t do. You also didn’t need a family trust to income split this way, you could just issue skinny shares to adult children and spouses. And CRA didn’t tighten anything, the legislation was changed by the Trudeau liberals via the tax on split income implementation.
There are still plenty of tax reasons to implement a FT. One being he multiplication of the LCGE.
