Hey All,
(throwaway due to family knowing my reddit account)
I have come into a considerable amount of income (70000). There are of course a 100 different ways I could chose to spend this, but what I would like to do is use to create additional monthly income.
I have a defined benefit pension with work so I am not worried about my retirement savings. I already have a home so I want to be able to draw on this money so I maxed out my TFSA and will have the rest in a non-registered account.
My plan is to invest to protect the money in the TFSA by investing in a diversified ETF. Some of the ETF's I have been looking at are: TQCD, FCUH, FCCD, XEI. I would split 50/50 between one of those 2 etfs.
Next I am looking at scooping up POW for my non registered account. I understand the past doesn't guarantee the future, but I really like how this firm has performed. Power Financial is now under POW, Great West Life, London life, and Canada life have been merged into one name. They have been done 2 billion in share buybacks and investing renewable projects in Canada. If you did not like the Desmarais name they are now no long co-ceo but remain on the board. Dividends are eligible. This is name is severally undervalued right now and it will be my growth stock coming out of this downturn.
I'd love to hear your thoughts or any other stocks/etf that you would think are better suited to my needs.
