Slept on choice but I’m personally 70% in a momentum fund called FCMO
pros: I’ve been up 19% annually
Cons: expense fee is 0.36 annually to actively manage the fund but it’s worth it due to the high over performance
A momentum fund is a diversified fund between sectors that chases the best performing companies out of the us market. There’s two really good ones that trade in CAD XMTM and FCMO, I chose FCMO because it rebalances quarterly (4 times a year) instead of XMTM’s twice a year rebalance. The rebalance basically protects you from severe market crashes due to swapping out failing companies and re-investing in the better performing ones. I survived the 2022 crash better than the S&P 500 and I’ve been outperforming it for about 5 years now.
If you want to settle on higher risk while not being at risk of your money going to 0 I’d definitely go the momentum route, sounds like you want to also place individual bets too so you could do a 70/30 split or whatever you’re comfortable with where the 70% is your safer momentum core with high growth then the 30% is your individual stock picks (even though I’d recommend more closer to 10-15%)
