Two notes about NBDB. There is a $10 journaling fee. Same with Questrade. Not important to most people, but if you use Norbert's Gambit, relevant. You also have to send them a note or call to journal. NBDB keeps your USD and CAD in two separate accounts, which I found annoying. But also means that if you move it from there, they charge $150 per account per currency in their respective currency. I think the new government has plans for making this fee illegal, but until then, relevant.
I like both NDBD and Questrade. If you do options or trade for others, like your spouse, be aware that you can only do that on Questrade EDGE and Edge doesn't have good designators for accounts. Meaning that you will see Account 135846 (Margin), 135548 (Margin), 524111 (RRSP), 528774 (RRSP), etc with no way of knowing if it's person A or B, other than memorizing who owns which account number.
