Looking for some perspective and suggestions in my situation..
Just got laid off, will likely be a while before I find a comparable employment opportunity:..
45yo , wife n 2 kids.. primary income came from my side. Have 12 months of severance..
I have $1m of cash not invested at present as I just vacated my stock holdings in the company I was working for.
No room in rrsp or tfsa …
So going to invest it in an unregistered acct but not sure where to invest..
Currently considering something like:
30% in Canadian banks (BANK etf or similar)
20% bonds
40% in vGRO or XEQT
And 10% in individual stock picks / bets…
Or to increase dividends for supplemental income:
30% in banks
20% bonds
30% vGRO/XEQT
20% HDIV
