I was surprised cobalt wasn't mentioned in Carney's address before remembering the military connection.
The majority of this critical mineral has been mined in the DRC and refined in China, ESG nightmare fuel.
Australia has the world's second largest amount of cobalt yet has only represented about 2% of global output, China controlled the price floor. G7 mineral pact to change that. DFARS already pushing that way.
Section 301 tarrifs hit chinese cobalt, also labelled as supply chain risk to DoD.
Allied powers will soon (2027) have refineries in AUS, CAN, EU to process cobalt. In addition to EVs (great location on St Lawrence Seaway) it is a war time mineral. It's used in super alloys for missiles, jet engines, satellites.
Aside from ARRRF (iconic ticker name, never available on WS) anyone have any Aussie cobalt favourites they are willing to share? I think they're gonna pop.
