I switched over to FCF+Growth investing about 2-3 years ago. I’m up 90% since. I cut the weeds and watered the flowers about 6 months ago and am up 30% since then.
Basically, I decided to abandon any stock I would ever have to sell. If the stock had any timing component to it such as cyclicals(oil and housing) or inferior business but cheap(net nets, arbitrage), I abandoned the play. I did this after having a conversation with my friend where I thought about what would happen to my potentially devastated wife if I died.
I’m fairly young, and so I assume I will diversify into more stocks over time by limiting further investment into my current plays. Right now, I am paying down my heloc on my home and looking for a third play.
I could make money in gnw, ubab, tzoo, JOE, EQX, NC, VTS, AOIFF, HCC, cron, or CNR. I just think I’ll be faster, and more reliably make more money in TPB and OGN.
