I usually wait until the market is tanking, the press is pessimistic, and VIX is over 25 to buy large tech stocks. Maybe once a year. Usually works well.
In between, I keep a lookout for smaller stocks including penny stocks. Some of the Reddit boards are good for ideas even though most get screened out. I usually put small amounts on these stocks but have some major winners the last year: ELTP, KULR, RKLB, ADXDF, BKSY.
I do not do the in-depth screening that some investors here do, but look for a number of things including:
Consistent top-line growth
Profitability or diminishing losses
Reasonable Price-Earnings and Price-Sales
Debt under 70%
Near support levels
