I have some fixed rules, that catch about 70% of the scenarios I need caught. The rest is often manual, but usually happens at the beginning of sessions. I suppose there might be a way of getting a full on clear system, but I haven't needed it.
More important than uptrends, I usually look for Break Of Structure. You can have a look at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) Crunch Labs challenge which has hundreds of competitors, me included, working on the best quantitative way of real time BOS detection.
