The most pure play "cheap" oil company(sour) with a clean balance sheet I could find is Baytex...which is a small Canadian oil concern. It's restructured, has a lean balance sheet, and is aggressively buying back shares.
Mining companies I don't pick individually too often. I build a core of ETFs and then sprinkle some mining stocks around them. Those I stack 100 shares at a time and sell covered calls against. My core mining positions are Sprott's GBUG(actively managed gold diversified) and SILJ(Junior silver miners). To those I've taken positions in ASM(Avino silver and gold), AG(First Majestic), and SBSW(Sibanye Stillwater) ...which is a South African based PGM group metals producer with recycling operations in Montana as well.
