Thanks for the feedback! Yes, only interested in TOS on a very basic level, myself. I enjoy learning about companies and stock trading as a hobby. I have CNBC Pro, Investing.com, TipRanks and Seeking Alpha subscriptions. My body typically
has a "built-in" alarm clock that wakes me up before 3am CT to check in on the Pre-market action. I am frustrated at times when I want to enter a trade in the wee mornings but must wait until 6am CT before my trade executes since I am still on the regular Schwab trading platform. I trade either on my phone or IPad, virtually anywhere, but no fancy workstation is in my future. I can admire a good-looking pro-set-up though for sure! We may reach out to a fiduciary fee-only advisor for periodic check-up's for additional wealth planning advice, but plan to keep doing the investing part myself. Our CPA said our next immediate step is up-dating our wills and establishing trusts for our adult children/grandchild. I am learning a lot this year and last year about tax efficiency investing and have made some real strategic decisions about our investments because of this knowledge. My husband just received a rather large chunk of change from a sale of a manufacturing business that he and his brother have owned for 36 years. I put it all in national short and intermediate muni bond ETF's to help me SWAN! I am slowly but surely also realizing some large LTCG's in our taxable account on some "popular" tech growth stocks. I am selling individual underwater lots on other equites/bond holdings to help with tax loss harvesting these gains. I am moving over to more index etf investments, including s&p 500, international and divident etf's. I also dabble in CC ROC ETF's, and some MLP's as well. I have been using "Claude" as a sounding board lately, and "he" has taught me some things I didnt know! I know AI "hallucinates" at times though, so try to double check "his" advice. Thanks for listening 🤣

A 1 year EF depleted 80% leaves you with 2.4 months which is marginal but okay-ish.
A 6 month EF depleted 80% is still an EF but not one that helps a lot in unemployment type emergencies in the current soft employment market.
My kids hold a smaller EF because they are backstopped by the bank of mom and dad. I would tell them to continue to contribute and more slowly replenish their EF.
I hold a larger EF because we are the bank of mom and dad and nobody is backstopping us. I’d replenish as a priority.
And in AI career uncertainty, high market valuations and geopolitical risks and the need for us to maintain a healthy EF is high.
Your EF is **not** part of your investment strategy but a part of your insurance strategy.
Insurance, EF and investment assets do work together to form whatever level of safety is desired for your family and at this point one pillar of that strategy is degraded by 80% and your SWAN index is commensurately lower…significantly so if you are posting about it.
The tactical value of tax deferral vs risk mitigation is undetermined until hindsight but likely over the course of a 40 year accumulation period it won’t result in a material difference in outcome giving you are normally saving like a Boglehead.
