**The Corporate Stock (SLF)**: Sun Life has been highly profitable, growing its stock price on the Toronto Stock Exchange from C$41.51 in August 2016 to C$112.83 in August 2026.
**The Policyholder Funds**: Many individual clients who bought VUL policies around 2015–2016 with the promise of "paying for only 10 years" have recently found that their fund values are nearly empty, or too low to sustain the policy without additional out-of-pocket payments.
