You would get your assets back eventually as they are held in bankruptcy remote vehicles and SIFI sub custodians like BNY for the most part, it's the delay with litigation and identification of beneficiaries which would be the issue as you wait to get access again. I use two brokers and only one of them with Margin for this very reason. Don't think it can't happen (Bear, Lehman, MF Global, CS all got into trouble) it's just less likely these days with better risk management and regulatory oversight.
