agree with you on lean operation. big retailer have 2 choice. spend on manpower, spend on automated system. i think its clear the direction for walmart and other retailer would be towards machine and automation if overall cost drops. even at the breakeven between the 2 automation system present less operation challenges (except execution risks) than human system.
opex for warehouse on human labor accounts for 50-70% of the operation. this is a very big industry in SCL
