Coming from a very poor background, 'fortune' is not millions. Buying a modest home (in Silicon Valley) and a decent car for myself and my wife is more than a fortune. I admit it was a bit grandiose, but even after all these years it still feels like a fortune.
Started trading in 2018. The first 2 years were rough. Lost a lot. Pandemic was the turning point. Not because I shorted when the pandemic started, but because I had more time to 'practice' and refine. I never hopped strategies. I've been trading just one strategy this entire time. Of course I broke rules many times in the beginning, but everyone does.
I trade 0DTE options from 7:30AM to 10:00AM (PST) I keep only $10K in my account. I withdraw profits daily. $10K is enough for me to make $1500 per day. Of course I don't make $1500 every single trading day but it happens often enough that I decided $10K is the sweet spot. TBH, $500-$700 per day is morwe than enough but it's usually more than that on green days. I aim for base hits, not homeruns. At the end of the month profits go toward all living expenses then the rest goes into long term investments and taxes. If my first trade is red, I shut it down until the next day. And I don't withdraw profits again until I get back over $10K. I never deposit money from my bank account to get back to $10K. I have to earn it back. While that's happening, my long term investments are playing out so there is no urgency to get back to break even. I take my time. If you rush, you will surely lose.
One thing I do that is not advisable is that I risk high but I have very tight stops. This is not recommended unless you are absolutely comfortable with your strategy and discipline. At first I was getting stopped out all the time but over the years I learned better stop loss placement and exactly when the strategy should play out with minimal pullback.
Doubting people on the internet is normal, especially in this sub where people are selling courses or mentorships. I'm not doing either. I don't need to sell courses. Sounds like a hassle anyway. But some people in this sub are genuine and not selling anything. They just understand what it's like to be 'stuck' and lost and like to lend a helping hand.
