The companys Distributed Generation segment provides interactive distributed generation power systems, PowerBlock generator solutions, smart grid monitoring for electric utilities, peak shaving, demand response, and PowerControl standby power dispatch and control software; PowerSecure solar distributed generation energy systems; and switchgear products and services under the NexGear brand. Its Utility Infrastructure segment offers transmission and distribution systems, and substation construction and maintenance, and storm restoration; UtilityEngineering and PowerServices engineering, regulatory consulting, and electric grid system design services; and cybersecurity consulting services. The Energy Efficiency segment provides light emitting diode (LED) lighting for grocery retailers under the EfficientLights brand name; utilities, and commercial and industrial customers under the IES and EnergyLite brands; and retailers under the Solaris brand name. It also offers energy efficiency services and related solutions for energy services companies, and utility and retail customers, including energy efficiency services upgrades for lighting, building envelope, water, and heating/cooling systems. The company markets and sells its products to large and mid-sized commercial and industrial businesses, public and private institutions, as well as investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, and municipalities. The company was formerly known as Metretek Technologies, Inc. and changed its name to PowerSecure International, Inc. in August 2007. PowerSecure International, Inc. was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
