I’m retired and started selling covered calls on everything in my portfolio. Have had some called away and just wrote cash secured puts on them if I still wanted to own them.
For higher dividend payers I’m in MSTY, NVDL, NVDY, CONY, YMAX, and ULTY for EtF funds and are great for options.
I have numerous other high dividend stocks (mreits, BDC’s, CEF’s) that pay 10% to 20% dividends.
I’m making about $60k a year on options, and $80-$90k a year on dividends. Most of the high paying dividend stocks are in 2 Roth IRA’s and others in a rollover 401k. I take out about 25% to supplement SS and invest the other 75%. Thus my portfolio is always growing.
Works well for me and options have been a great money maker.

I’m not sure where you get the idea the fund’s NAV “keeps eroding.” It’s up $4 off its 52 week low and has traded flatly in a range for the last month or so.
As to your question, I don’t think NVDY is a bad investment. If you put $10,000 in at inception put it on DRIP, you’d have $30,000.
However, it seems like it doesn’t hit your risk profile. And if I made that determination about a Yield Max product, I’d sell out now. The problem with holding is that it’s tied to what happens with Nvidia. It’s not hard to image NVDY dropping a Buck, the distribution coming in at 62 cents, and you finding yourself down 51 cents in 4 weeks.
Looked at another way, you’re down around $50. Do you want spend four more weeks with thousands invested in something you’re not comfortable with to get that back?

Unlike most I’m not adverse to YM and actively hold multiple positions, including a very small NVDY position. Ultimately this is a decision you will need to make, just know if tariff games resume you will lose nav value incredibly quick. Look at late February to early April, just a little over a month and it was down over 25%. The payouts could go up with a drop because YM does Puts in addition to calls, but there is not guarantee. Nvidia is also hitting all time highs, which is one of the reasons the nav has been strong recently. For transparency I’ve considered reallocating my resources since I’m up on nav and obviously took in dividends. Regardless of the decision you make, I wish you the best.

Depends when you bought it. NVDY share price is up 24% in the last 3 months. I'm up 7% plus several months of dividends. I'm not saying it's sustainable but you can make it work. Of course if I had to do it all over again, I'd have just bought NVDA.

Naka 750 MSTY, 750 CONY, 500 NVDY, 1000 ULTY. Same here nasa AU naman ako halos same tayo ng tax bracket. Negative ako sa capital gains pero overall return postive na ko. Around 30% house money na ko, ng DRIP kasi ko pero hopefully by next year house money na at mas malapit na sa retirement!

You aren’t wrong but OP could hold NVDY for a few months and break even, faster than buying SCHD

The YieldMax ETFs like NVDY are fundamentally flawed for long-term holding. They're actively eroding your principal through their options strategy - that's why your share price dropped 33% while NVDA stock has been rocketing upward. The "dividends" aren't true dividends but [return of your own capital plus option premiums](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/yieldmax-launches-short-nvda-option-105500822.html).
What's happening is you're getting your own money back labeled as "income" while the underlying value keeps declining. This isn't sustainable.
JEPI or JEPQ are much better options for income. They use similar options strategies but with more diversification and less NAV erosion. JEPQ has over $26 billion in assets and has become one of the [most popular actively managed ETFs](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/best-performing-active-etfs-1h25-100000134.html) for good reason.
SCHD is completely different - it holds quality dividend growers rather than using options income. This gives you both income and potential capital appreciation.
Move your money now. The longer you wait with NVDY, the more principal you'll lose. The sunk cost fallacy is keeping you in a declining position when better alternatives exist.

Ng start ako mag invest sa mga YieldMax ETF last October. So far i have CONY, MSTY, NVDY, and ULTY. Im still building my position with NVDY but after that i will try to add more weekly payers into my income portfolio!
Interested ako kung may iba dito na ng iinvest rin sa mga covered call ETF to replace their incomes and hopefully retire early.

Buy into SPY, NVDY, etfs in general.
Maybe some of the cheaper "nuclear" stocks like DNN. SMR is not a 5$ stock but it's still cheap with huge potential and solid financials.
