Ping can be really misleading here because ICMP latency is not the same path or priority as the actual websocket stream. The provider might also be routing your home connection to a different edge, or batching/throttling messages differently per region/session. I’d timestamp at three points if you can: provider event time, receive time on each machine, and your own clock synced with NTP or PTP. Otherwise you might be comparing “message arrived first” when the clocks or feed paths are the real difference.
