Without a 3rd party conducting a study I would concede that it is very difficult to ascertain in confidence whether the *vast* majority of all physicians use Dialer service, but you don’t have the data to say “physicians don’t really use the platform” either or that it is an insignificant minority. I am confident that the vast majority of physicians who **I know** do use Doximity since the tools are approved for use in our large group, and it is a standard operating procedure.
Based on the doximity SEC quarterly earnings report from March 31, 2026, they state “We’re thrilled to announce that we reached a new engagement record of over 800,000 active prescribers.” This is double the figure you state of 400,000 active providers. They define an active user as: “We calculate the number of unique active providers by counting providers who securely login and use any of the following workflow functions on our technology platform during the quarter: placing phone calls or video calls lasting more than 10 seconds, sending voicemails, or sending secure text messages using our Dialer communications tools; sending or receiving faxes; submitting a prompt on Doximity GPT, our HIPAA‑compliant generative AI clinical research tool and writing assistant; conducting research on prescription drugs; reviewing AI responses for our PeerCheck feature; scheduling via our on-call scheduling tool, Amion; or using our HIPAA-compliant ambient note taking tool, Scribe, for a patient visit. Each provider is counted once per quarter, even if they use multiple tools or use them many times.” They also state “Providers are health care professionals with clinical / prescribing roles specifically Physicians (MD/DO), Nurse practitioners (NPs), Certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNAs), Physician assistants (PAs), Pharmacists, and Medical students.” So to respond to your comment it does not appear that dentists, social workers, and psychologists are included. Dentists do have prescriber privileges, but social workers and most psychologists do not (except a few states.)
What percentage of the total doximity active users is physicians? Well, that isn’t publicly disclosed in this latest earnings report. In 2017 it was reported 75% of their users are physicians, link below. So we could infer 600,000 out of 800,000 active users could be physicians.
Now to attempt to calculate the number of active physician daily users out of all active practicing physicians. We have an inference of 600,000 active US physician users on doximity, which is out of a total 1,082,187 actively licensed physicians in the United States and the District of Columbia based on the 2024 FSMB census (link below.) By my calculation that is 55.4% of the total physicians, who may be active users of doximity. If correct, this would represent the majority of U.S. physicians.

I suspect there are regional variations, as the U.S. is heterogeneous and so are physicians and their practices.
As to your point on being the average physician, I think there is nuance there based on the 2024 FSMB census. Linked to the census is below. Table 1 nicely shows the distribution of age and I agree with you the average age is 51.8 so you are close, slightly over the average age. I am younger than the average age. You can see in table 1 that 48% of physicians are 49 years old or younger. And given the mean age is 51.8 then it seems reasonable to infer that approximately 50% of physicians, possibly 51% are younger than you. The practice of medicine has changed significantly during the years that those ages 51 and younger were trained and went into practice. They may have a different experience than you.
