Looking for some investment guidance...
Between savings and a recent inheritance, I currently have about $750k parked in VUSXX. I plan to keep around $100k in VUSXX for my emergency fund, but since yields are likely to drop as interest rates come down, I’m exploring where to invest the remaining $650k to generate steady monthly income to offset some of my montly nut while I search for a new job.
Ideally, I’d like to generate around $2.5k–$3k in post-tax monthly income, factoring in NYC’s combined top marginal tax rate.
Should I be looking at the usual suspects (eg JEPI)? My broker friend suggested KNG as a potentially safer long-term hold. Or would it make more sense to look into triple-tax-exempt municipal options like NYF, FMNY, or VYFXX, to avoid taxes altogether?
Basically, I’m looking for a balanced, relatively low-risk income approach that won’t crush me on taxes but still provides some reliable monthly cash flow. Ideally this will be a 3-6 month holdover until I (hopefully) find a job.
What would you do in my situation?
Many, many thanks!
